Designed for first-semester sophomores, the perfectly blends classroom and real-world learning. Site visits, weekend excursions and cultural events immerse you in a new culture and broaden your perspective on the world, bringing relevance to the classroom and allowing you to think across disciplines — all while fulfilling core requirements.

In January, St. Thomas offers short-term, faculty-led programs on varying subjects.
Spring Semester
Catholic Studies in Rome allows Catholic Studies majors and minors to take four classes at the (also known as “The Angelicum”). These courses provide opportunities to complete major and core requirements.

During the summer months, Bernardi Campus hosts several non-University of St. Thomas short-term student programs from various colleges and universities in the United States.

Meet Our Campus Director
About the Bernardi Family
The Rome Bernardi Campus is named in honor of the late Antonio and Cecilia Bernardi, Italian immigrants whose gift enabled the university to establish the campus. Antonio was born in Treviso, Italy, in 1921, immigrated to the United States, and settled in Edina, Minnesota. Antonio was a real estate developer and entrepreneur, a legacy carried on by his children, including son, Luigi Bernardi '85, '89MBA. Luigi was most recently recognized by St. Thomas via its Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2023.
